Exhibition Guided Tours

There will be regular guided tours of the exhibition throughout June, July & August led by Professor Maria Chester. Meet in the foyer of The Granary Gallery 5 minutes before the start of the tour. Each tour will last 25 minutes.

Each tour is limited to 15 people and cost £2 per person.

You can find all available dates for tours here

If you wish to be sure of a place, you must book in advance. Otherwise, you can just turn up and pay on the day.

This lecture by Professor Maria Chester will discuss the cultural connections between Edinburgh and Paris, how French light and Celtic romance came together to create a style that would shock the art establishment in Britain, because “it was too modern, too strong, too French!"

Painting in the style of the Scottish Colourists: Landscape

This is a practical art session, giving amateur and professional artists the opportunity to try out some of the techniques used by the Colourist artists. It will include a guided tour of the exhibition. Each class is limited to 10 students.

This session will focus on Landscape and the tour will highlight a landscape painting by FCB Cadell

The workshop begins at 10 am with a guided tour of the exhibition, followed by a two-hour practical session. There will be a half-hour break for lunch and you can bring your own lunch or eat in The Granary cafe. There will then be a further practical session from 1 pm to 3 pm.
